Facts

About Squirrels

Squirrels hide nuts and acorns for the winter months. Around 25% of their food can be stolen so they also confuse animals by pretending to hide food.

They are diurnal, so are most active in morning and evenings.

Squirrels have 4 or 5 extremely sharp toes on each foot. They also have double-jointed legs, making them infamous climbers.

Squirrels can eat a lot of food, up to their own body weight in a week.

They can live for up to 10 years and females produce young around twice a year.

Squirrels are classified as rodents which means their front teeth never stop growing. They have lots of similarities to mice and rats.

Inspect & Assess

Our highly trained technician will start by doing an inspection of your property, as well as a general survey of the adjoining land and properties, to confirm you have a squirrel problem, the size of the squirrel population, and any landscaping or building defects that provide potential access points.

Treatment

After the initial inspection, the technician will decide upon the safest and most effective course of action for your squirrel problem. Typically this will involve a number of and a variety of specialist squirrel traps that will dispatch the squirrels instantly and in a humane way.

Post-treatment

Avoid taking any immediate action unless advised to do so by the technician. The technician will explain their findings and provide relevant advice after every visit.

Prevention advice

Make sure food, grains or any other types of food are kept in sealed containers, especially when stored outside.

Repair or appropriately seal any holes and gaps at roof edges and soffits. Squirrels notoriously take up home in loft spaces so this is where they will seek access.

We all love to feed the birds, but you should avoid doing this if it is attracting too many squirrels and you have problems with squirrels.

Keep trees near to your property suitably trimmed to avoid giving squirrels easy access; they will often use trees to climb up then move from the tree to roofs.

Use deterrents (decoys, natural repellents, predator scents, metal sleeves, motion activated lights, sonic repellers, and sprinklers.
